How to use "Group Items"

The Group Items function in Shopstory allows you to aggregate data based on shared attributes, making it easier to analyze trends, summarize information, or structure data efficiently.

When to Use Group Items?

Use Group Items when you need to:

  • Combine multiple entries with the same attribute (e.g., group products by category).

  • Summarize performance metrics (e.g., total revenue per brand).

  • Count occurrences (e.g., number of orders per customer).

How It Works:

  1. Select the Data to Group – Choose the dataset you want to group, such as a list of orders, products, or keywords.

  2. Define the Grouping Attribute – Pick the field that determines how items should be grouped (e.g., "Category" for products).

  3. Choose an Aggregation Method (Optional) – Define how the grouped data should be processed:

    • Sum – Adds up values (e.g., total sales per category).

    • Average – Calculates the mean (e.g., average order value per customer).

    • Count – Counts the number of occurrences (e.g., number of products per brand).

  4. Use the Grouped Data – The output can be used for reporting, filtering, or further automation steps.

Example Use Case:

Grouping a list of advertising campaigns by channel and summing up their total ad spend would give insights into which channel is the most cost-intensive.

By leveraging Group Items, you can efficiently organize and analyze large datasets, making workflows more insightful and actionable. The attached image shows an example of grouping keywords by date.
